Is Mizan free?

Yes. Every protection layer is free, with no member limit and no feature held back. There is a paid tier for servers that want extra capacity on the heaviest checks, but nothing that keeps your server safe sits behind it.

Why does it ask for so many permissions?

Because undoing damage needs more access than spotting it. Removing a message needs one permission. Putting back the channels and roles a compromised account deleted needs several more. If you would rather not grant the recovery permissions, Mizan still runs. It will catch things, and it will tell you what it could not fix.

Will it get in the way of normal conversation?

No. Mizan steps in for real threats and stays silent otherwise. Everyday chat, links between friends, and jokes that would read badly out of context are left alone. If your community swears cheerfully at each other, set the profanity filter to match and that is the end of it.

Do I have to configure anything?

No. Add it and protection is live. The defaults are meant to be the answer for most servers, not a starting point you are expected to fix. Change things when something bothers you, not before.

Will it spam my moderation channel?

No. Routine actions roll into a quiet digest. Your team gets pinged for the things that genuinely need a person: raids, attempts to wreck the server, and scams Mizan is confident about.

Does it read and store everyone's messages?

Mizan checks messages as they arrive and does not keep your members' chat history. Message content is never shared with other servers. What is stored is the moderation record: what action was taken, against whom, and why, so you and the member can both see it later.

Can my moderators overrule it?

Yes, always. Your team can reverse any automatic action, and you can mark people, roles, and words as trusted so Mizan skips the tunable checks for them. Severe identity abuse is still enforced. It is your server, and what is acceptable in it is your decision to make.

How is this different from Discord AutoMod?

AutoMod matches words and patterns you write yourself. Mizan arrives already knowing what to look for, reads attempts to disguise it, understands a message in the context of the ones around it, and can undo damage after the fact. It also sets up AutoMod rules for you where AutoMod is the better tool, so you are not picking one over the other.

Does it work in threads and forum channels?

Yes. Threads, forum posts, and the titles people give them are all covered.

Does it only work in English?

No. Disguised and mixed script text is handled whatever language it is written in. These docs are currently published in English and Spanish. Detection is strongest in English today and improving elsewhere.

Can I run it alongside another moderation bot?

Yes, though two bots acting on the same message can double up on punishments. If you are keeping another bot, narrow one of them to the jobs the other is not doing.

What happens if Mizan goes offline?

Anything it set up inside Discord, including AutoMod rules, keeps working without it. Live checks and damage recovery pause until it is back, and nothing already in your case history is lost.

What if I remove Mizan?

Protection stops immediately and your case history stays available to you. You can ask for your server's moderation records to be deleted at any time.
