Banwave.net

Shared intelligence on accounts that raid, scam, and spam across servers.

The same accounts hit server after server. A raid crew moves down a list. A scam account posts the same link in forty communities before lunch. Every server discovers them separately, and every server pays for that discovery on its own.

Banwave.net is the shared record. Today that means the curated record described below, which your server can draw on straight away. Sharing between servers, so that a conclusion several independent servers reach travels to everyone opted in, is rolling out. Taking part is your choice either way, and so is what happens when a match appears.

Protected before you contribute anything

You do not have to share to receive. Mizan maintains its own curated record of proven repeat raiders, scam accounts, and spam networks, and your server is covered by it from the moment you switch Banwave.net on.

Consensus, not one server's opinion

One server calling someone a raider is an opinion. Several unrelated servers independently reaching the same conclusion is evidence.

Reports carry weight based on the reporting server's track record, so a server with a history of accurate reports counts for more than a brand new one, and a server that reports everyone counts for less. A single angry moderator cannot get someone listed, and one compromised server cannot poison the record for everyone.

You choose the response

Matches are a signal, not a sentence. Start with the quietest option and tighten it when you trust what you are seeing.

  • Tell me only. A note in your log when a listed account joins. Nothing else happens.
  • Send them to verification. They can still join, but they prove they are real first.
  • Hold them. Quarantined until a moderator looks.
  • Turn them away. Refused at the door automatically.

Check the members you already have

Switching it on does not only cover new arrivals. One scan compares your current member list against the record and shows you what it found. You review the list and decide; nothing happens to anyone until you say so.

What is actually shared

An entry is an account id, what it was listed for, and which servers concluded it. That is the whole payload.

It does not include anything anyone wrote. Not the message that got them banned, not screenshots, not your channel names, not your keyword lists, not your moderator notes, and not the identity of your members who were never listed. There is nothing in an entry that would let another server reconstruct a conversation from yours.

Mistakes are expected, so they are reversible

Every listing is appealable, and an appeal reaches a human. Entries are not permanent by default: an account that stops causing damage ages out rather than carrying a mark forever.

Your own trusted people and roles always win over a Banwave.net match. If someone is fine in your community, that is your call to make, and Mizan will not overrule it.

Leaving

Opt in, opt out, no penalty

Turn Banwave.net off whenever you want. Your server keeps the protection it had before, new sharing and screening stop, and entries your server already contributed age out on their own. You can also withdraw a specific account at any time. There is no lock-in and nothing to negotiate.
